2008 Parade of Homes Builders
Interested in a new home? Curious to see new construction and learn more about builders in the area? Then the Parade of Homes is an event you won't want to miss! Mark your calendars now for this annual event, taking place October 11 & 12, 18 & 19, 2008. Sponsored by P.F. Plumbing Contractors, Inc. and presented by the Home Builders Association (HBA) of Winston-Salem and the Winston-Salem Journal, the Parade of Homes is one of the largest marketing events for new home construction in the Triad.
The goal of the event is to allow consumers the opportunity to tour new home construction, meet area builders and move forward on their own dream of home ownership.
This year's Parade will feature dozens of homes, ranging in price from under $100,000 to over $1 million. The homes featured in the Parade will be located throughout Winston-Salem, as well as in Lewisville, Clemmons, Kernersville, King and Advance. During the event, which is free to the public, homes will be open from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Each year the Home Builders Association of Winston-Salem enters an association sponsored house in the Parade. This year's home, built by Richard Alexander Custom Homes, Inc. is located in the West End section of downtown Winston-Salem. It is a new bungalow/craftsman style house that fits in flawlessly with the surrounding historic district.
A tabloid offering directions and descriptions of each of the homes will be available in the Winston-Salem Journal on Friday, October 10, and Friday, October 17. To view last year's event tabloid, follow the link found at the bottom of this page.

The Parade of Homes came to a successful close on
October 21. Showcasing a record 90 entries, the event was great
exposure for the builders as well as the associate members who
helped to build the homes. As in years past, the entries showed
well during the event with builders reporting high consumer
traffic during both weekends. There were entries that went
under contract during the Parade, reports of consumers
interested in custom builds and even some signed custom
contracts!
The Golden Home Awards Banquet, an awards ceremony
highlighting all the Parade entries, was held on October 16.
More than 500 HBAWS and Winston-Salem Regional
Association of REALTORS® members attended. The event,
sponsored by Branch Banking and Trust, P.F. Plumbing
Contractors Inc., Pine Hall Brick Co., Inc. and the Winston-
Salem Journal, celebrated many successes, including awarding
the Silver and Gold winners in each of the eighteen categories.
A party followed with live music by The Kays, heavy hors
d’oeuvres, and a night of fun.
On October 18, the annual Open House Extravaganza for
the Parade builders and Parade listing agents was held at the
2007 Association Home, built by Andy Hewitt and Mart
Gordon of R.A. Hewitt Building Co., Inc. The weather was
good and participants enjoyed a breakfast sponsored by
Coldwell Banker Triad, REALTORS®, Piedmont Natural
Gas and the Winston-Salem Mortgage Bankers Association.
Following the breakfast, participants were able to tour the
Parade homes.
